Safety Auditing Programs

A measurement of performance

In 1993 a health and safety audit program was established to help us meet the goals and expectations of the company, employees, contractors, and neighbors. The audit program, administered by corporate occupational health and safety, is used to verify that all Lilly facilities worldwide comply with company policies and applicable governmental regulations. But the program goes beyond compliance. The audit program also evaluates the various management systems that are in place to ensure long-term conformance with company expectations. In health and safety, the desired end is the prevention of accidents and illnesses. The program helps us evaluate the effectiveness of organizational structure, planning, resource apportionment, and performance measurement. As the company expands its operations and markets across the world, the audit program will aid us in ensuring that all Lilly employees work in the highest quality environment.
